Patriots Aren't the Same in 2009 - Yet

The New England Patriots are the predominant favorite to win the AFC East with a healthy QB Tom Brady. While the Patriots without Tom Brady went 11-5, they didn't make the playoffs.

The New England Patriots now are built on competing to win Super Bowls, not missing the playoffs. With Brady again at the helm the Patriots are looking to pick up where they left off from the 07' season when they set countless NFL scoring records.

The start of the 09' Patriots season hasn't been ideal for them. While Tom Brady is coming off serious knee surgery, he and wide-receivers don't seem to be in sync just yet.

The New York Jets defense controlled the majority of the game and put Tom Brady off his game all day (New York Jets defense is one of the best in the NFL).

Many expect Brady to be rusty and shows sign of being a rookie again. It isn't all about Tom Brady. The Patriots wide receivers must give Brady help and make plays and the offensive line must keep Brady upright and protected.

The Patriots can move the chains in between the 20s but can't seem to find the end zone as much as they are used to. It's not as if the Patriots lack the weapons, as they have WR Randy Moss, WR Wes Welker, WR Benjamin Watson, WR Joey Galloway, and RB Fred Taylor. Chemistry is very important between wide receivers and quarterbacks obviously.

As the season continues to move forward the Patriots should get back on track.

The Patriots defense is good but maybe not as great in seasons past. Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in the leagues history, and the chances are good he and the Patriots will rise to the top of the AFC once again.
